SmartAsset Introduction
The SmartAsset product is the result of the redevelopment into .NET of an older and quite successful product called FMMS.
This redevelopment project has accomplished much more than simply providing an upgrade
path for existing customers. In the past our product had been aimed at the mid to upper
range market for Asset Management applications, beyond the reach of prospective customers at the
lower end of the market.
SmartAsset consists of Three key ingredients
SmartAsset EAM is a new generation, comprehensive enterprise asset management
application that enables asset owners to better manage and maintain their
plant, facilities and equipment. It is based on .NET utilizing object-oriented
philosophy such that each component and distinct function are identified as
classes, objects and methods. The SmartAsset product not only provides rich
functionality, it extends the user interface to allow deployment options
including both the traditional graphical user interface (GUI) and browser style
interfaces that allows internet/intranet/wireless deployment including an
application service provider option for those customers wishing to minimise
their IT investment.
SmartAsset Office 2007 Extensions enable deployment of key asset management
functions including asset navigation and monitoring, maintenance and project
planning, task assignment, and reporting via the Office 2007 products, thereby
providing their users with the same comfort and familiarity enjoyed with those
products.
Over the years we have had many requests to interface to Microsoft Office products
for the purposes of printing and viewing documents, planning projects and
reporting functions. By installing the SmartAsset Office 2007 Extensions,
SmartAsset customers are able to deploy functionality to their users via the
Office 2007 products. For example, the Task and Calendar functions of Outlook
can be overlaid with SmartAsset functions in order to navigate the asset hierarchy,
display planned maintenance jobs as tasks and to show them in the Calendar based
on their due dates. Additionally, maintenance jobs can be selected into Excel
worksheets for subsequent analysis and presentation.
These are just a few examples of how SmartAsset functionality can be deployed
by a widely accepted Microsoft tool that is already familiar to the user. This
ability constitutes significant savings to the customer in relation to training,
productivity and deployment costs.
SmartAsset ASP is a third ingredient to the SmartAsset suite, due for release 4th Quarter;
SmartAsset ASP delivers key SmartAsset functionality as a hosted option.
SmartAsset ASP is a generic .NET based application generator/adapter that
is accessed from a sales oriented distribution web site by a prospective
customer who will be able to build a profile of the version of SmartAsset
that they wish to deploy, possibly on a trial basis, including the following
options:
-
Industry sector including options to utilize pre-built data for their industry
-
Language and terminology used by the customer, industry or nation
-
Functional component selection including interface options
-
Pricing model including rental and ASP deployment
